Nancy Gertner, former federal judge for the District of Massachusetts and a leading light in the women's rights movement, will discuss her view that the courts are undermining the Voting Rights Act.

 Homecoming CLE: Combatting Increasing Risk of Wildfires Nov 9th, 2013 10:00am - 11:30am MST

 

Please join us for an in-depth discussion of the latest scientific research and the law, policy and land management implications of the escalating risk of wildfires in our nation's forests.   Dendrochronology and forestry expert Dr. Tom Swetnam, UA Tree Ring Laboratory, will be joined by Professor Kirsten Engel, UA College of Law, and Marshall Anderson, Supervisory Ranger in the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. 

 

Title: Legal and Policy Responses to Increasing Wildfire Risk

Speakers:

Thomas W. Swetnam is a Professor of Dendrochronology and the Director of the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research at the University of Arizona whose research focuses on understanding forest disturbances and dynamics, and how they are influenced by climate and humans. 

 

Kirsten H. Engel, is a professor of law at the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona where she teaches and researches in the areas of environmental law.

Marshall Anderson is a Supervisory Ranger at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and Emergency Services Coordinator over Fire Protection, Emergency Medical Services and Search and Rescue Operations.

Arizona Law Review invites you to attend its Homecoming open house on November 9th from 12pm to 3pm in the Arizona Law Review office.  In conjunction with the James E.
