Prospective Students

The Career Development Office serves as a resource center for your legal career. We are counselors helping you to define your professional goals, develop career search skills, and identify and connect with potential employers. You are prepared in the fall of your 1L year for the world of legal recruiting through extensive programming, one-on-one meetings to polish your resume and cover letters, and meetings and mock interviews with attorneys.

YOUR FIRST SUMMER LEGAL WORK EXPERIENCE

Over the past seven years, more than 90% of our 1L class engages in real world summer legal clerkships and internships (paid, volunteer, or for credit) - one of the highest rates of 1L legal employment in the country.  You will participate in spring interviewing both on campus and via video-conference with law firms, government agencies, public interest organizations, state and federal judges, and corporate in-house counsel.  We prepare you to be successful over your 1L summer, so that you can be successful during 2L fall recruiting.

YOUR 2L YEAR - ON & OFF CAMPUS INTERVIEW PROGRAMS

Each year 120+ law firms, corporations, government agencies, and public interest organizations throughout Arizona and nationwide interview our students on and off campus.  As a 2L, you have the opportunity to be part of our National Off-Campus Interview Program in the following cities: Denver, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Chicago, NYC, Philadelphia, DC, Miami, Houston, and Dallas.

AFTER GRADUATION EMPLOYMENT - GO HERE, PRACTICE ANYWHERE

If you attend Arizona Law, our national reputation offers you the best of both worlds:  the opportunity to work in Phoenix and Tucson, and the opportunity to work in major markets around the country (such as LA, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, DC, and New York).   This gives you choice, regardless of where your interests and career take you.

We are very active in preparing you for coveted judicial clerkships after graduation, and our judicial clerkship rate for the Class of 2009 (23%), Class of 2010 (21%), and the Class of 2011 (18%), each exceeded the national average.

INTERNSHIP & EXTERNSHIP PROGRAMS

We publish two of the most important government internship and public policy handbooks in the country.  Because of this, we have developed close ties to government employers in major federal markets like DC, New York, Chicago, and LA, resulting in a wide range of opportunities, including:
