The University of Arizona Rogers College of Law Library invites nominations and applications for a Reference Librarian position. Reference Librarian Position

The library is seeking an individual who is able to work with a diverse constituency of students, faculty, colleagues, and other library users. This position is continuing status eligible, the equivalent of tenure eligible for librarians, and librarians are eligible for a sabbatical every seven years.

Duties in this position will evolve over time as the library continues to focus on how best to meet the changing demands of our users. Current duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provision of a wide range of reference and research assistance to a diverse group of library users.
  • Teaching legal research throughout the curriculum.
  • Participation in collection development in all areas of the collection.
  • Development and maintenance of law library web pages.
  • The opportunity to undertake supervisory and support duties for a variety of electronic services.
  • Working some evening and weekend hours as required.  

Required Qualifications:

  • JD and MLS or other information science degree from accredited institutions. Significant (at least two years) law library, information industry, or technology experience may be substituted for one of the degrees.
  • Candidates holding a JD who do not also hold either an MA in Information Resources or an MLS, or equivalent degree in library or information science, will be expected to complete that degree in order to be considered for continuing status.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience performing the duties described above.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, enthusiastic, innovative, flexible, and comfortable in working in a team environment.
  • Experience with Westlaw, Lexis, DreamWeaver, creating and maintaining databases, managing dynamically-generated web pages.
  • Demonstrated aptitude with technology.

Salary: DOE, competitive entry level range.
