Prof. Glennon Discusses Water Usage in a Public Radio Series

Fronteras:  The Changing America Desk recently did a two-part series on the looming shortage of water in the southwest. Prof. Glennon contributed to both pieces. In the first one, on proposals to recycle water for drinking, he discussed the concerns about what wastewater plants don't remove, especially pharmaceutical drugs. In the second piece, concerning the shipment of alfalfa, a “water-guzzling” crop, to China, he stated that farmers are shipping 50 billion gallons of water to China that could be kept in the United States. Read the articles and listen to the audio here for the February 20, 2014, piece here, and the February 28, 2014, piece here.

Both stories were also aired on Here and Now and can be listened to here and here. The Arizona Attorney blog, AZ Attorney, discussed the second piece in a March 5, 2014, post here.
