- American College of Employee Benefits Counsel Writing Contest. Two $1,500 awards for winning essays on any legal topic involving employee benefits (such as health benefits, pension benefits, 401(k) plans, severance, executive compensation, claims and appeals, spousal and domestic partner benefits, division of benefits in divorce, collectively-bargained benefits, impact of bankruptcy on benefits, benefits litigation and ERISA remedies, fiduciary obligations, taxation of benefits and benefit plans or deductibility of contributions). - Summer Language Study Abroad. FLAS awards include tuition, maintenance stipends ($15,000 academic year at University of Arizona and $2,500 summer in US or overseas), and support UA graduate students in the study of Middle Eastern Languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Turkish) and Middle East area studies. - Ms. JD, an online community that provides a forum for dialogue and networking among women lawyers and aspiring lawyers, will award two $500 scholarships to female law students entering their second or third year who are working this summer (for min. 35 hours per week over an 8 week period) at a government agency or nonprofit organization.
