Convocation Ceremony

Following is a list of general instructions for Convocation:

Graduates wishing to participate in Convocation should report no later than 8:15 a.m., to the east side entrance of Centennial Hall in order to be briefed, to dress, to line up, and to begin the ceremony on time.  No smoking, drinking, or containers are permitted in the auditorium.

Index Cards:
For both ceremonies, each graduate must bring to the ceremony a 3 X 5 index card with his/her name clearly printed on it.  The graduate’s name will be read from this card during the ceremony as the graduate crosses the stage to be acknowledged.

Professional Photographs:
The College of Law will have a photographer at the Convocation to take pictures of graduates.  Graduates wishing to receive information regarding ordering, should bring a second 3 X 5 index card containing the graduate’s name and summer mailing address to be given to the photographer.

Attire:
Caps, gowns, and hoods must be worn for both the U of A graduation and the Convocation.  Graduates may obtain these from the U of A bookstore.

Parking:
Parking for graduates and guests is available in the parking garages located at: Tyndall & Euclid; Second Street & Mountain; and Park & Speedway. Click here for a printable parking map.

Seating:
Guests at Centennial Hall may sit on the main floor and must enter the auditorium through the front entrance.  The entrance on the east side of the auditorium is reserved solely for graduates.  No guests are permitted “backstage” with the graduates.  Ushers will be present to assist guests with disabilities.  The Hall will be open at 8:15 a.m., for the convenience of guests.

Reception:
Immediately following the Convocation ceremony, a reception will be held on the lawn in front of the Arizona State Museum, directly across from Centennial Hall.  All are invited to attend.
