Evidence (608); Legal Profession (609) or Legal Ethics Seminar (696f) (either completed or be enrolled in one of these contemporaneously with the clinic). Students must have completed at least three full semesters of law school to participate.
Trial Practice
Students serve as prosecuting attorneys in one of the prosecution offices in Tucson, or, with permission of instructor, in other Phoenix cities during the summer. Under the supervision of lawyers, students work in the felony, misdemeanor and juvenile law areas.
The prosecutorial agencies require that students pass a Criminal History Background check, prior to being accepted for placement. Thereafter, students must attend an Orientation which includes Victims Rights Training; 2nd-chair bench trials; and assist in evidentiary hearings and pre-trial hearings. During the course of the Clinic, students participate in a Ride-Along with on-duty officers, go on a jail visit, and may visit a Crime Lab.

Students will be required to submit periodic journals, record their time, and submit a final reflection paper.
All of the clinics have weekly classes which provide students with training in the types of matter addressed by the clinic, opportunities to discuss cases and projects being handled, and a forum to share experiences.
Students may take clinical courses for a maximum of 10 units by either participating in the same clinic twice or in different clinics. In this placement clinic, the first time is for four units while the second time is for three units.
Students who have not had a first-time clinic experience have priority over students who have had a clinic experience already.
