Overview

This course deals with formation of contracts, remedies for their breach, interpretation, and doctrines that police the substance of contracts. It also addresses the importance of relationships and reputation in the performance and adjustment of deals.

Stewart Macaulay et al, Contracts:  Law in Action, (Volume I, 2010, 3rd edition, LexisNexis). Loose-leaf version--Volume I only  

 

Steven Burton and Melvin Eisenberg, Contract Law: Selected Source Materials (2013 Edition, Thomson West).

 

 
Course Format

Discussion, with some mini-lectures.

 
Written Assignments

None other than exams.

 
Type of Exam

Midterm and final essay-style exams. 

 
Basis for grading

Regular class attendance is required.  Grading is primarily on the basis of the mid-term and final exams, with class participation taken into account at the margin.
