Internships are with government or public interest agencies for 6 units in summer or 10 units in fall or spring. (Internships with government agencies other than those listed below may qualify for independent study under Law 699.) There are "pre-approved" internships, and "ad hoc" internships.  The pre-approved internships that have been approved by the Curriculum Committee include the Arizona Legislature Legal Internship (Phoenix, Spring semester only); Arizona Governor - General Counsel's Office (Phoenix); White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (DC); U.S. Congressional Internships (Senate and House in DC).

All other 693 Section 1 internships for credit are "ad hoc" internships, and MUST be approved by the Curriculum Committee.  Please see Dean Birmingham or Dean Nailon for details on preparing your proposal. 

To receive full credit, the student must work full-time for 10 weeks during the summer, and 15 weeks during the semester.

A log of assignments must be kept, a notebook of written documents you draft, and a memo describing the nature of the assignments, the supervision you received, and your assessment of the internship. You will also engage in regular journaling to reflect on your work, the substantive nature of the work, your interactions, etc.

Pass/Fail. Must receive "passing" grade from supervising attorney, and supervising instructor.

Summer FT = 6 units; Semester FT = 10 units
