NALSA: Welcome!

The Native American Law Student Association (NALSA) would like to encourage you to consider attending the University of Arizona. Although there are many reasons we think you will love it here, we would like to highlight a few.

First, the University of Arizona provides an excellent legal education. Not only does the University of Arizona provide a great all-around legal education, we have the best Indian law program in the country. Our Indian law professors are leaders in the field - they literally write the books on the subjects they teach. There is also enormous opportunity to work outside the classroom through the Indigenous Peoples Law & Policy Clinic, where students are able to work on a wide-range of issues, including writing a bench memo for the Navajo Supreme Court and being a prosecutor or defender in a tribal court. Additionally, students have the opportunity to become involved in international indigenous issues through our International Human Rights Advocacy Workshop.

Second, you will love the friendly and supportive Native community at the University of Arizona. We have around 30 NALSA members who form a tight-knit community dedicated to creating an environment where we all succeed both in and out of the classroom. The first year of law school can be nerve-wracking, but we have found comfort in a community that truly cares about us. The NALSA study guide bank is a huge help during the first year. And we also have to mention how much fun we all have! We have mixers, barbeques, intramural football and softball teams as well as community service events. Even studying isn't too bad with good friends.

Lastly, you will love Tucson. You can't beat the year-round beautiful weather and the picturesque backdrop of saguaros and mountains. Tucson has a small town feel with big city perks. It's a great place to study and learn, and if you ever get some free time you can enjoy yourself too.

While you are in the process of deciding on a law school, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions at all. Deciding on a law school can seem overwhelming, so hang in there. Good luck!

Sincerely,
The University of Arizona Native American Law Students Association
