Biographical Information

Former Representataive Kolbe was a special assistant to Illinois Governor Richard Ogilvie, 1972-1973; a business executive; a member of the Arizona state senate, 1977 - 1982; and was elected as a Republican to the Ninety-ninth and to the ten succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1985-January 3, 2007). During his career in Congress, he was extensively involved in international trade and development matters, including but not limited to sheparding NAFTA through Congress, and serving as chair of the appropriations subcommittee responsible for foreign assistance. He has lectured extensively in Arizona and elsewhere on international trade, development and globalization issues. He is now affiliated with the German Marshall Fund and Kissinger McLarty Associates.
