| What to do on the day of the exam
Arrive 30 min before the exam for setup (this includes users who will be using law school computers).
Print out the 'Before, During, and After Computer Exam Instructions' and bring with you to the exam.
Have extra blue books, pencil/pens, erasers, etc
Bring at least two floppy disks/CDs to EACH exam for your exam file and backup exam file.
Bring extra labels or a marker to write on the CD
Make sure you have a power adapter that works!
Turn the sound off on your computer
If your professor is handing out the exam, be sure to allow the professor to leave the room before you do to preserve anonymity. This also means that you should not stand in the front of the room ready to leave, while everyone else takes a seat.
Spellcheck Copy and Paste rather than Cut and Paste
Do not uninstall Examsoft until you receive your exam scores at the end of the academic year, which includes summer courses. You may wish to consider backing up your exam files (exam files end with the .xmd extension. You will not be able to read this file as it is encrypted and can only be read via the Examsoft printing software).
You may set a reminder time for xxx minutes after you have started your exam. You can set this reminder in the ‘preferences’.
Be familiar with the Academic Honor Code.
Formatting is only for your comfort. When the exams are printed, they will be printed by the default formatting configs defined by the law school.
You can find the word count under the Tools menu.
Bring earplugs if small noises bother you.
If there is a computer problem and the proctor can’t immediately get to you, start handwriting your exam. It will keep you from getting distracted.
Do not attempt to resolve computer problems on your own. Ask for the assistance of the proctor immediately.
Once you close your exam you will not be able to open it again.
If you have a multiple choice exam with more than 20 questions, put all the multiple choice answers on a single Examsoft question and number them.
To keep track of time, a clock appears on the lower right hand corner of the Examsoft window. However, official time keeping will be used by a designated clock in the classroom.
Your official exam questions do not appear in the Examsoft window. Your questions will only appear on your printed exam question sheet.
