About This Manual
This Disaster Preparedness Manual was written to provide the basis for an emergency preparedness program for the Daniel F. Cracchiolo Law Library at the University of Arizona. The Manual examines potential emergency situations and possible responses to them, and in doing so endeavors to adhere with and complement the University of Arizona safety guidelines and Emergency Response Plan, http://cert.arizona.edu/cerp.html . A printed version of the Manual is available from William S. Hein & Co., Inc., 1285 Main Street, Buffalo, New York 14209-1987.
The Disaster Preparedness Manual is divided into two major sections: Emergency Procedures and Salvage Procedures. The first section deals with immediate responses to be taken in the event of disaster, and essentially focuses on the safety of people in the library. The second section discusses procedures to follow in recovering from a disaster, and is concerned with the care of library materials. A supplementary section covers Equipment, Supplies and Services suggested for dealing with emergency situations.
