public services-reference services

Although the primary mission of the law library is to support the curricular, scholarship and research needs of the James E. Rogers College of Law’s students and faculty, the library also provides legal materials and reference assistance for the faculty, staff and students of the University as a whole and for the local bar and general public. The law library's public services staff includes reference librarians and circulation desk workers who are available to assist in locating and using materials in the library.

Reference librarians are available at the reference desk to assist you with legal research. The reference librarians can assist you with locating and using printed and online sources available in the law library, but they cannot provide legal advice on specific legal problems.

Before making a trip to the law library, you might want to examine our legal links pages to see if the information you need is available freely on the Internet. You may also wish to examine our online subject based legal guides and legal research guides. The reference desk schedule varies according to the College of Law's academic calendar, but reference librarians are generally available these hours.
