Prior to his current position, Mr. Gutiérrez was based in Paris, France, where he managed Microsoft’s legal department for Europe, Middle East and Africa, overseeing all legal, regulatory and government affairs matters in that region. |

| Ms. Shirin Ebadi, winner of the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize Ms. Shirin Ebadi, winner of the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize, addressed a 600-person crowd at the University of Arizona Student Union. Her free public lecture sponsored by the James E. Rogers College of Law, in association with the Dept of Near Eastern Studies, gave attendees a good understanding of current issues at the intersection of religion and governance in the Middle East and throughout the world. After a fifty minute lecture delivered through a Persian translator, Ms. Ebadi answered questions from the audience. |

Opening Session of the UN Expert Seminar on Implementation of National Legislation And Jurisprudence Concerning Indigenous Peoples’ Rights. This event featured Mr. Rodolfo Stavenhagen, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of Indigenous People.The seminar was organized by the University of Arizona in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and with the support of the organization Cultural Survival. |
