The College of Law Bulletin is published at the beginning of each week of the semester. ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Student Animal Legal Defense Fund will be having a bake sale Wednesday, November 12 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.

LWA will be holding its last meeting of the Fall semester next Wednesday, November 12 at 12:15.† Please stop by and see what's in store for the rest of the semester and get a head start in finding out about all our Spring semester activities!† We will meet in Room 139.

LWA Speakeasy.  Please plan to attend the Law Women's Association's Career Panel Speakeasy next Thursday, November 13, at 7:00 p.m.!† We'll have panelists from both Phoenix and Tucson representing the private and public sectors (Tucson firms, the Attorney General's Office, and the Maricopa County Bar Association), criminal and civil realms, corporate in-house counsel, women of color, and working mothers.† We'll be gathering in one of the panelist's homes (location TBA, of course), and a reception will follow.† We hope to see you there!† Questions?† Contact hester.miller@law.arizona.edu.

Attention 2Ls and 3Ls:  The Juvenile Court Teaching Programming is recruiting law students for Spring Semester.† Each student who participates will earn 2 Independent Study Credits.† We will be holding an information session at 12:15 on November 12th for anyone who may be interested.† The Juvenile Court Teaching Programming is a great opportunity for all law students.† Please feel free to contact Melanie Yazza or Ana Himelic if you have any questions.

Interested in becoming a VLP Advocate?  The Volunteer Lawyers Program of Pima County is looking for student volunteers to work with clients and assist attorneys in the areas of Domestic Relations, Child Support, and Bankruptcy next semester.† Training will be provided.† If you would like to get some great pro bono experience, please come to a meeting on Monday, November 17, at 12:15 p.m. in Rm. 128.† All students are welcome.† For more information contact Sheila Schaeffer at sheila.schaefer@law.arizona.edu.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to volunteer for the November Community Service Board Project on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15.† We will be working at the Community Food Bank to assemble emergency food boxes.† The completed boxes will be given to needy Tucson families and to non-profit programs for distribution in the community.† We will meet in the main lobby of the law school at 8:15 a.m. and then head to the food bank, where we will work from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.† If you would like to join us, please e-mail Martha Fenn at fenn@law.arizona.edu or sign up on the sheet posted in the law school lobby.† Space is limited, so please sign up early.

THE HONORABLE MARGARET M. HOUGHTON AWLA SCHOLARSHIP.† The James E. Rogers College of Law is pleased to announce the availability of the Houghton AWLA Scholarship.† The Southern Arizona Chapter of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association and friends of retired Pima County Superior Court Judge Margaret Houghton have established an endowment to provide a scholarship in honor of Judge Houghton, who is a 1976 graduate of the University of Arizona College of Law.† The award will be made to an enrolled second-year law student who is the parent of a dependent child and who demonstrates financial need.† The recipient will be selected by a five-member committee chaired by Judge Houghton.† Applications are available in Room 118.† DEADLINE:  Completed applications must be returned to Room 118 by 5:00 p.m. on November 18, 2003.
