Marks Lecture.  Senator Edward M. Kennedy will be the 25th Annual Isaac Marks Memorial Lecture Speaker. He will speak from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at the University Park Marriott. His topic will be “A Senator's Perspective: American Higher Education in a Global Economy.” Everyone is invited to attend, though seating is limited; guests are encouraged to arrive at 6:00 p.m.

ONE MORE CHANCE TO WIN $1000.00.  The ACLU Amicus Brief Contest has been EXTENDED by one week!! In the spirit of fair play, the contest packets will be available for one more week. Your final chance to participate in this competition for up to $1000 in cash will be THIS Thursday, September 30th. Dawn Wyland will be in the lobby from 12:20 - 1:05 to hand out packages for the competition. You may also have the package emailed to you by writing This question presented will be of special interest to anyone with an interest in evidence, criminal law or domestic violence. You are encouraged to participate in this unique opportunity.

People Salads and Pet Snacks.  The Student Animal Legal Defense Fund is having a fundraiser on Tuesday, September 28, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Come get a freshly made salad and ice-cold soda for lunch and pick up some dog or cat treats for your favorite furry friends! You will be helping to send students to the first and only animal law moot court competition, facilitate the animal law speakers’ series led by UA law grad Chris Wencker this fall and otherwise support animal advocacy!

Need a cool treat? Have a Root Beer Float!  PILO will be selling root beer and coke floats in the lobby on Wednesday, September 29 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Law Women's Association News:  There will be an LWA meeting in room 138 on Wednesday 9/29 at 12:20. We will be discussing the upcoming tennis tournament and electing a 1L representative. Everyone is welcome to attend.

STUDENT ENRICHMENT FORUMS.  This semester the College of Law will offer a series of Student Enrichment Forums in which professors give lunchtime presentations about areas of current interest in their work. Each forum will take place in the Sullivan Room from 12:15 - 1:00 p.m., and pizza and drinks will be provided. Space is limited to 25 students per forum, so sign up early for forums you would like to attend. To sign up, sign your name on the list outside Martha Fenn’s office (Rm. 238), or e-mail her ( with the forum you would like to attend. (Because we are not sure what the response will be, we are asking that for now you sign up for no more than 2 forums.) The schedule is as follows:
