J.D. AND LL.M. GRADUATION CELEBRATION LUNCHEON:  Monday, April 25, 2005 from noon - 2:30 p.m. at the Arizona Inn. Awards for graduating seniors will be presented. Graduation class photo will be taken following the lunch back at the law college sculpture. R.S.V.P. by Monday, April 18, 2005, to Donna Ream in Development and Alumni Relations Office, Room 303 - Rountree Hall.

Attention 1Ls and 2Ls! Are you working in a criminal law agency this summer or are you curious about what it's like to work in one? Then mark your calendars for the Criminal Law Association meeting on Thursday, April 7, at 12:15 in Room 138! Pizza will be provided!! We will have a panel of student speakers who have worked for the Pima County Attorney's Office, Pima County Public Defender's Office, US Attorney's Office, Federal Public Defender's Office, and for a judge on the criminal bench! They will speak about their experiences with their respective office and answer your questions. Also, we will be holding elections for next year's Criminal Law Association executive board! There will be a PILO meeting Wednesday, April 6 at 12:15 p.m. in Room 126. We will be discussing the Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Project, the PILO Fellowship, the Pledge Drive, the next PILO Speaker, Fundraisers, and Elections! All are welcome! Free Soda and Ice Cream!

The Law Women's Association will hold its last meeting of the year on April 13, at 12:20 in Room 139. We will be presenting a check to the Domestic Violence Clinic and then moving straight into elections. You may nominate yourself or someone else for as many positions as you would like. Share Your Hair!! The Jewish Law Students’ Association of the University of Arizona Hillel Foundation and Great Clips will be offering free haircuts for those that wish to donate their hair to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss.

Requirements for hair donations:

  1. Minimum of 10 inches hair length (tip to tip), not wigs, falls, or synthetic hair;
  2. Men and women, young and old, all colors and races, are encouraged to donate;
  3. Hair may be colored or permed, but not bleached or chemically damaged (if unsure, ask a stylist);
  4. You may pull curly hair straight to measure the minimum 10 inches.

Write Like a Lawyer (Or Better):  Randy Warner - a Phoenix attorney with Jones, Skelton & Hochuli - will speak on Wednesday, April 6 at 2:15 in Room 146. Mr. Warner has written and spoken widely about legal writing. He's young, dynamic, and not afraid to question the orthodoxy of traditional legal writing. His presentation is entitled “Write Like a Lawyer (Or Better):  Legal Writing Tips for Law Students.” After his talk, there will be a reception in the courtyard so that interested students can meet him. Arizona Women Lawyers Association - Annual Wine and Cheese Party. Join in the fun Friday, April 8, 2005 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the courtyard of the Steinfeld Mansion, 300 North Main Avenue. All students and faculty are invited to attend a conference, “Comparative Law in the Twenty-First Century,” at the University Marriott Friday, April 8, and the morning of April 9. Four panels of distinguished academics and practitioners will discuss comparative issues in intellectual property law, public law, commercial law, and international trade law. Sir Nicholas Lyell, a former U.K. attorney general and Member of Parliament, will speak at the Friday lunch on “Security, Justice and Liberty in a Free Society.” There is no fee for members of the law school community, but attendees should register with Donna Ream either by email ( or with forms provided by the Development Office. Continental breakfasts and the lunch on Friday are included with registration. This is a great opportunity for students interested in any of these legal fields, or in international and comparative law in general, to learn more about the subject from some of the world's leading experts.
