VLP Outstanding Student Award.  The Volunteer Lawyer’s Program has honored VLP Advocate Kathy Brody (2L) with the November 2005 Outstanding Law Student Award. Kathy began serving as a VLP Advocate during her first year of law school and is now one of the Law Student Coordinators. She works closely with VLP staff to ensure that the clinics run smoothly. In honoring Kathy with this award, the VLP stated that “Kathy has played an important role in the VLP’s student clinic success this year, helping to coordinate the volunteer dates of more than 120 students - and always with a sense of humor.” Congratulations to Kathy on this well-deserved recognition!

NOVEMBER COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT. The Community Service Board and the Environmental Law Society invite students, faculty and staff to volunteer for the Sabino Canyon Service Project. Come spend a morning at beautiful Sabino Canyon or by the Catalina Highway, recently designated a National Scenic Byway. We will be helping the U.S. Forest Service to remove invasive plants such as buffelgrass, which threaten Sonoran Desert plant species. Buffelgrass kills native plants by competing for water and space, and by providing fuel for wildfires. Training and equipment will be provided; supervised children are welcome. The project takes place this Saturday, November 19, 9:00 a.m. - Noon. We will meet at the law school at 8:15 a.m. and then head out to the work site. If you would like to join us, please e-mail Martha Fenn at fenn@law.arizona.edu.
