The College of Law Bulletin is published at the beginning of each week of the semester. ALL FIRST YEAR STUDENTS:  The Mary Anne Richey Scholarship is awarded each year to a first-year second-semester student on the basis of the student’s demonstrated commitment to public service. The scholarship consists of a one-time award of $1000. Applications are available in the Financial Services Office from Ms. Rosie Gallegos. Deadline is Monday, February 13, 2006. Please contact Professor Atwood (621-1912) if you have questions.

Attention 3L Students! You are invited to the 100 Days to Graduation Kickoff Party.  The Class of 2006 Gift Committee is hosting a 100 Days to Graduation event in your honor at La Cocina Restaurant located at 201 N. Court Street on February 2, 2006, from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Appetizers will be provided, the class gift will be announced, and those donating to the class gift will be entered in a raffle with a chance to win the use of Dean Massaro’s cap and gown for graduation. AALSA Meeting.  The Asian American Law Student Association is having its first meeting of the semester. Please join us if you can! We will be discussing some fundraiser ideas as well as volunteer and social projects for the semester. New members are always welcome! Wednesday, January 25, at 12:15 p.m., in Room 128.

Welcome back! The Black Law Student Association (BLSA) Monthly Meeting will be held Thursday, January 26, in Room 126, at 12:15 - 1:00 p.m. See you there.

The elephants at Reid Park Zoo need your help!  SALDF speaker Nikia Fico will discuss the campaign to move Tucson’s two elephants from cramped quarters at the zoo to a sanctuary in Tennessee, on Thursday, January 26, at 12:15, Room 128.

LWA Meeting.  There will be an LWA meeting this Tuesday, January 24, at 12:15 p.m. in Room 140.

The PUBLIC INTEREST LAW ORGANIZATION (PILO) would like to invite all interested law students, faculty, and staff to take part in our community service event planned for Saturday, January 28 at the COMMUNITY FOOD BANK from 9:00 a.m. - Noon. STUDENT ENRICHMENT FORUMS.  This semester the College of Law will offer a series of Student Enrichment Forums in which professors give lunchtime presentations about areas of interest in their work. Each forum will take place in the Sullivan Room from 12:15 - 1:00 p.m.; pizza and drinks will be provided. Space is limited to 25 students per forum, so sign up early for forums you would like to attend. To sign up, please e-mail Martha Fenn ( with the forums you would like to attend. (Because we are not sure what the response will be, we are asking that for now you sign up for no more than 2 forums.) The schedule is as follows:

The Arizona Women Lawyers Association is sponsoring a reception honoring Arizona Supreme Court Chief Justice Ruth V. McGregor and Justice Rebecca White Berch at the Doubletree Hotel in Tucson on Feb. 2, 5:30 - 7:30. Special Guests include The Honorable Sandra Day O’Connor, Justice of the United States Supreme Court, and The Honorable Charles E. Jones, Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court (retired). Admission is complimentary for members of the judiciary. Attorneys admitted in 2005 pay $15, Law students pay $10, and all others pay $30. Admission includes hors d’oeuvres and 2 drinks. The FAFSA (Free Application for Student Financial Aid) for 2006 - 2007 is available for completion at To be considered for financial aid for next year, you must apply now (SUBMIT THE FAFSA BY FEBRUARY 14, 2006) so that you meet the March 1, 2006, processing deadline required by the University of Arizona and Rogers College of Law for all scholarships (new and continuing) and for all need-based funds, including work study funds and Stafford Loans. If you have not yet filed your taxes for 2005, complete the FAFSA using estimated figures. When you have filed your income taxes, file a correction to the FAFSA updating the information - the update will not change your original application date. If you filed for the academic year 2005 - 2006, you may file for 2006 - 2007 using the Renewal FAFSA, on which you can update last year’s information (figures and addresses). If you have lost or forgotten your PIN, which is required to file, you can request a duplicate at A brochure describing the steps to file a FAFSA or to obtain a PIN is available outside Room 118C in the Financial Services Office.
