ANNUAL MARKS LECTURE - Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will speak at the Rogers College of Law on Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 146. ATTENTION FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS:  The Community Service Board, which consists of several students from each class and several faculty and administrators, is looking for 2 first-year students to serve on the Board. The Community Service Board meets regularly throughout the year to organize community service events and develop other community service related projects at the College of Law. Juvenile Teaching Program Informational Meeting. Thursday, August 31 at 12:15 p.m. in Room 201. If you are a 2L or 3L and are interested in participating in a great program that allows you to teach the law and share your law school experience with interested juveniles who are currently serving time in Juvenile Hall, please come to this informational meeting. At the meeting, you will hear about experiences from students who did the program this past summer, we will answer any questions you have, and we will explain the procedure for registering to get credit for the program. Please note that the program will also be available for students in the Spring as well. Interested in being a VLP Advocate this semester? The Volunteer Lawyers Program is looking for student volunteers to work with clients and assist attorneys in the areas of Domestic Relations, Child Support, Bankruptcy, and Guardianship. All students are welcome. Training will be provided. Students may volunteer for as many or as few slots as their time allows. If you would like to get some great pro bono experience, please come to a mandatory meeting for Fall volunteers on Tuesday, August 29, at 12:20 p.m. in Rm. 140. Join the Environmental Law Society’s first Panel Discussion of the year:  “I Want to do Environmental Law, but I Don’t Know What That Means,” on  Tuesday, August 29, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m., Room 146. Interested in the practical application of environmental work in the legal field? Or just curious about what environmental issues lawyers today are working on? PILO Meeting. All law students are invited to take part in the first meeting for PILO (Public Interest Law Organization). We will be discussing a wide number of topics, including open officer positions and our dedication to public interest law and community service, among other things.
