ANNOUNCEMENTS

Student Enrichment Forums:  This semester the College of Law is again offering a series of Student Enrichment Forums in which professors give lunchtime presentations about areas of interest in their work. Each forum will take place in the Sullivan Room (Rm. 202) from 12:15 - 1:00 p.m.; pizza and drinks will be provided. Space is limited to 25 students per forum, so sign up early for forums you would like to attend. To sign up, please e-mail Martha Fenn (fenn@law.arizona.edu) with the forums you would like to attend. (Because we are not sure what the response will be, we are asking that for now you sign up for no more than 2 forums.) The schedule is as follows:

Armory Park Senior Center Lunch and Dance.  All are invited to volunteer for the FEBRUARY COMMUNITY SERVICE BOARD project on Wednesday, February 14. We are looking for up to 20 volunteers to kick up their heels with some local seniors this Valentine’s Day. The Armory Park Senior Center downtown is sponsoring a lunch and dance from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. and needs help setting up and serving the lunch. The dance will take place at the same time, and all volunteers are welcome to share their ballroom dance skills with appreciative seniors! We realize that many of you have class and other conflicts at this time and will not be able to participate. We apologize for the odd timing of this service event, but the Senior Center would really like some help, so we hope we can find at least some people who are free to help out. If you would like to join us, please e-mail Martha Fenn at fenn@law.arizona.edu or sign up on the sheet posted in the law school lobby.

Food Drive.  As part of the Pima County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division’s “Have a Heart” Food Drive, Phi Delta Phi will be collecting canned foods in the lobby during lunchtime February 5th to the 13th. If you don’t want to carry cans to school, we will also be collecting cash donations which will be used by the Food Bank to purchase food in bulk. Some professors have graciously offered a “free day” in class to students who donate five cans to the drive. All food collected will be used to feed hungry Tucson families in the coming months.

Join the YLD and Phi Delta Phi in collecting food baskets in Sam Hughes. As part of the “Have a Heart” Food Drive, you will be paired up with local lawyers and go door-to-door collecting bags for the Food Bank. This event takes place 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. on February 13th, and is a great opportunity to meet young lawyers while giving back to the community! If you want to participate, please email lharring@email.arizona.edu by February 10th.

2007 - 2008 FAFSA Application Deadline:  To be considered for financial aid for 2007 - 2008, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be filed and processed by March 1, 2007, the deadline required by the University of Arizona and Rogers College of Law. If you have not yet filed your taxes for 2006, complete the FAFSA using estimated figures. When you have filed your income taxes, file a correction to the FAFSA updating the information - the update will not change your original application date. If you filed a FAFSA for the academic year 2006 - 2007, you may file for 2007 - 2008 using the Renewal FAFSA, on which you can update last year’s information (figures and addresses). If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kim Marlow (626-8101; marlow@law.arizona.edu; Room 118C).

All Students:  Please make sure to clean out your main campus email accounts on a regular basis. Email is the official form of communication for the University. Many of you are not receiving your messages because you are over your quota. If space is of concern, CCIT has increased your quota from 100MB to 250MB, however you must enable the quota increase on your own. To do so, logon to Webmail, click on Options‑>Other Options‑> Manage Mail Storage. Select the ‘250MB’ option from the pull-down box and select ‘apply.’ For more details, visit http://email.arizona.edu or call the main campus help desk at 621-HELP.

Loan Counseling Session for Third Year Graduates:  Mark your Calendars now - Friday, April 13, 2007, 12:15 - 2:00 p.m. Room 139. Current laws regarding student loans and interest rates are changing rapidly and it is imperative you attend in order to receive up-to-date information on the best repayment strategy for your personal needs. Lunch will be provided - pizza, sodas, and water.
