ANNOUNCEMENTS

Environmental Law Society Meeting, Tuesday, February 26, 12:20 - 1:00 p.m., Room 126. We have a busy month! Camping, elections, and a potluck/party for our incoming officers, are all right around the corner. Hope to see everyone there.

Faculty Community Lecture Series. On Tuesday, March 6, at 7:00 p.m., Professor Rob Williams will present, “Like a Loaded Weapon: The Rehnquist Court, Indian Rights, and the Legal History of Racism in America,” at the DuVal Auditorium, University Medical Center, 1501 N. Campbell. Free Admission

All law students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend a lunchtime speaker event on Thursday, March 11, at 12:20 p.m., in Rm. 139. Sarah Gonzales, Director of the Racial Justice Program of the YWCA of Tucson will be the speaker. Sponsored by the Anti-Racism Focus Group of the NLG. FREE lunch will be provided (brown bag style - PBJ’s, chips, fruit), but bring your own drinks! If there are any questions, email co-chair Christie Green at cagreen@email.arizona.edu. (The LSADP speaking event for Jen Bedier of the AZ Capital Representation project was originally scheduled for this time, but has since been cancelled.)

SAVE THE DATE! - April 13, 2007 - Arizona Women Lawyers Association Annual Wine & Cheese Party. On April 13, 2007, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., the AWLA’s annual Wine and Cheese Party will be held at the Women’s Plaza of Honor at the University of Arizona. This year, AWLA takes great pleasure in commemorating the appointment of the Honorable Jan E. Kearney as Presiding Judge of the Pima County Superior Court, and the event will be held in her honor. Mark your calendars now so you do not miss this event. More information will be forthcoming.

Loan Counseling Session for Third Year Graduates:  Has been changed due to the 3L graduate luncheon. Mark your calendars now - Friday, April 20, 2007, 12:15 - 2:00 p.m. in Room 140. Current laws regarding student loans and interest rates are changing rapidly and it is imperative you attend in order to receive up-to-date information on the best repayment strategy for your personal needs. Lunch will be provided - pizza, sodas, and water.

2007 - 2008 FAFSA Application Deadline:  To be considered for financial aid for 2007 - 2008, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be filed and processed by March 1, 2007, the deadline required by the University of Arizona and Rogers College of Law. If you have not yet filed your taxes for 2006, complete the FAFSA using estimated figures. When you have filed your income taxes, file a correction to the FAFSA updating the information - the update will not change your original application date. If you filed a FAFSA for the academic year 2006 - 2007, you may file for 2007 - 2008 using the Renewal FAFSA, on which you can update last year’s information (figures and addresses).
