ANNOUNCEMENTS

Oral Advocacy Organization.  A new campus law school organization has been formed to organize those students interested in oral communication for litigation and law. We are looking for those who are planning or are open to careers in civil and criminal litigation, appellate law, negotiation and arbitration. The Oral Advocacy Organization would like to invite you to hear about what we plan to do next year and give you the chance to get involved in the many opportunities we are presently developing! There will be free pizza provided, so there’s really no reason you’d want to miss out! Join us, Monday April 16th at 12:15 in Room 126.

Earth Day’s a-coming! Phi Delta Phi (PDP) is recruiting people to participate in the semi-annual cleanup of the Rillito River wash on April 21, from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. The Rillito River collects all sorts of junk during the year, which gets washed out into sensitive desert ecosystems during the summer rains. Please help us clear up the junk - this is the last cleanup before the summer! And come on, you could use the fresh air, couldn’t you? This is not a strictly PDP activity - we want as many people as possible! Please see contact Andrew Barbour, abarbour@email.arizona.edu, and let me know if you’re interested. I’d like to get a single Law School headcount to the coordinator. P.S.:  Spouses and friends welcome!

Interested in being a VLP Advocate this summer? The Volunteer Lawyers Program of Pima County is looking for student volunteers this summer to work with clients and assist attorneys in the areas of Domestic Relations, Child Support, and Bankruptcy, as well as volunteers for an Intake Clinic. Training will be provided. The time commitment is very flexible. In summer you can volunteer as much or as little as your schedule allows. If you would like to get some great pro bono experience, please come to a meeting on Tuesday, April 17, at 12:20 p.m. in Room 140. All students are welcome. For more information, please contact Erin Fox (efox@email.arizona.edu), Jillian Aja (jaja@email.arizona.edu) or Jean West (jewest@email.arizona.edu).

Juvenile Teaching Program Informational Session, Tuesday, April 17, in Room 122, 12:15 - 1 p.m. If you are interested in participating in the Juvenile Teaching Program this summer, please try to attend this meeting. We will give you a basic introduction to the program. The program is open to both rising 2L’s and 3L’s. If you have any questions about the program or will not be able to attend, please email Greg Rodriguez at gregr01@email.arizona.edu.

“Walk-In Wednesday” Volunteer Project. All students, faculty and staff are invited to volunteer for the APRIL COMMUNITY SERVICE BOARD PROJECT on Wednesday, April 18, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. We will be joining other community volunteers at the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation for “Walk-In Wednesday,” an evening of volunteer projects held every Wednesday. We will be assembling various educational and information packets to be distributed in the community. Music, snacks and beverages will be provided. If you would like to join us, please e-mail Martha Fenn at fenn@law.arizona.edu. All are welcome!

Third Year Graduate Loan Counseling Session:  Friday, April 20, 2007, Room 140 from 12:15 - 2:00 p.m. Contact Kim Marlow to make your reservations now at marlow@law.arizona.edu. Reservations accepted until Monday, April 16, 2007. Current laws regarding student loans and interest rates are changing rapidly and it is imperative you attend in order to receive up-to-date information on the best repayment strategy for your personal needs. Lunch will be provided - pizza, sodas, and water.
