ANNOUNCEMENTS

November Coffee Talks:  This month the Coffee Talks will take place on Wednesdays. All students, faculty and staff are invited to stop by the Corleone Student Center between 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday for free coffee and good conversation.

VLP Outstanding Student Award.  The Volunteer Lawyers Program has honored Rigel Massaro (2L) with the November 2007 Outstanding Student Award. Ms. Massaro has volunteered in the Child Support Clinic this semester and is being honored for being one of the most active, efficient and knowledgeable volunteers in the clinic. The VLP notes that her competence and professionalism put clients at ease and assures them that their child support will be calculated quickly and accurately. Her intelligence and willingness to help others makes her a wonderful asset to the VLP. Congratulations to Ms. Massaro on this well-deserved recognition.

Nikolas T. Nikas, Esq., President and General Counsel of the Bioethics Defense Fund, will give a presentation on “What Every Law Student Should Know about Stem Cell Research” on November 8 at 12:00 in CC-114. Free lunch will be provided. Everyone is welcomed. Presented by the Federalist Society.

“Living on the Edge:  Climate Change and the Grand Canyon Eco-Region.” The Environmental Law Society invites you to attend a brown bag speaker series presentation on climate change Thursday, November 8, at 12:15 p.m. in Rm. CC-115. Stacey Hamburg, Conservation Program Manager from the Grand Canyon Chapter of the Sierra Club, will present on “Living on the Edge:  Climate Change and the Grand Canyon Eco-Region.” While climate change is certainly the greatest environmental threat humanity has faced, addressing climate change also offers an opportunity to clean up our skies, protect our last wild places and create a better, healthier world for future generations. Living on the Edge is a compelling presentation on the impacts of climate change on the northern Arizona environment and discussion on how we must all be part of the solution. Come hear how you can be part of the solution! We look forward to seeing you there!

Casa de los Niños Project.  All students, faculty and staff are invited to join the Community Service Board for the November Community Service Board Project at Casa de los Niños. We will be hosting an ice cream social on Saturday, November 10, from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. Casa is a local shelter for abused and neglected children. The social will include children ages 3 through 8. We will meet at the law school before the event and then carpool over to Casa de los Niños. To sign up, please e-mail Martha Fenn at fenn@law.arizona.edu. There is limited space, so please sign up early if you would like to join us. All volunteers must be over the age of 16.
