This week is Wellness Week and Career Week:  The schedule of events is in the calendar below. Look for daily emails as well. In addition, stop by the SBA Marathon Training Table all week in the lounge & lobby to form relays & get tips on running a marathon!

Career & Professional Development Programs this week:

The Federalist Society and LCJSP will be co-hosting a talk by Stephanos Bibas, former law clerk for Justice Kennedy, entitled Originalism and Formalism in Criminal Procedure:  The Triumph of Justice Scalia, the Unlikely Friend of Criminal Defendants? The talk will be on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 12:15 - 1:45, in Room 164. There will be commentary by Marc Miller or Jack Chin. Free food will be served.

Come to the NLG meeting to hear about Bretton’s experience at the NLG Convention, talk about an exciting (but short one hour) legal observer training we have coming up really soon with a Vice President of NLG National, and where we are going to get out and use our legal observation abilities! The meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 5, 12:20 p.m., in Room 156.

At the SAHLO meeting this week, Wednesday, Nov. 5, 12:30 p.m., in Room 138, Megan Prado will be sharing information from her time at the Student Health Care Conference in Pittsburgh, and we will also be planning events and speakers for next semester. Lunch will be provided.

GPSC’s General Meeting featuring UA President Shelton, Wednesday, Nov. 5, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Room 164 - All GPSC Meetings are open to the public and anyone interested may attend. Bring Childrens Books to donate to the Wills for Heroes Book Drive! The books will be donated to local school children that do not have books of their own. Give back to the community to better yourself!!

Yoga at the Rogers College of Law! The SBA is pleased to announce that yoga classes will be offered here at the law school! The first class will be part of Wellness Week activities, and it will be FREE! It will take place on Monday, November 3, from 1:45 to 2:45 in room 137 (back of the library). Please arrive at least five to ten minutes early to get a space and to help move tables and chairs out of the way (don’t worry - they roll). Bring your own mat if you have one - a limited number of mats will be available to borrow. NEXT, the ”oms” continue with a Thursday afternoon yoga series! Classes will be held on the following dates:  11/13, 11/20, 12/4, and 12/11 (no class during study week), from 2:55 to 3:55 in room 137. Again, please arrive early, and bring your own mat if you have one - a limited number of mats will be available to rent for $1. The Thursday classes will cost $5 each - a bargain! Friday, November 14, Legal Observer Training:  Protests aren’t just for activists!! As officers of the court, it will be our duty to ensure justice is upheld. Come participate in this unique opportunity! Learn about how to ensure 1st Amendment rights are not infringed by Law Enforcement during public demonstrations. After the training, walk out to the courtyard and observe the protest for Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff’s visit (or just attend his discussion).
