ANNOUNCEMENTS
Tuesday, January 27, 12:15 p.m., in Rm 168, Alan Gura D.C. v. Heller: Conservatives’ Roe v. Wade?, Commentary provided David Marcus, University of Arizona, Co-hosted by the Federalist Society and OAO.
Dean Massaro will hold an open Student forum Tuesday, January 27, at 3:00 p.m in Room 160,
ILS will be holding an International Food Sale, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m, Thursday, January 29. Please come by and tickle your taste buds with a smorgasbord of international cuisine. A plate of food will be $5.
The Nakamura Judicial Workshop will be held Friday, January 30. At noon there will be a hosted lunch in the Lewis & Roca Lobby. The program will run from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. in Room 164, the Ares Auditorium. Interested students can RSVP to lkahl@kbsds.com. The 2009 Nakamura Judicial Workshop is presented by the State Bar of Arizona; the Arizona Supreme Court Subcommittee on Recruitment; Lewis and Roca, LLP; the Arizona Minority Bar Association; & the Arizona Judicial Council Commission on Minorities.

- Friday, Jan. 30 - The World for Law Graduates in the New Financial Environment, 11:00 a.m. - Noon, Room 118 (with corporate, securities and financial experts, Robert Mundheim, Esq., Shearman & Sterling in NYC, and James Cheek, Esq., Bass Berry & Sims in Nashville). Mr. Mundheim is former Senior VP and General Counsel of Salomon Smith Barney, General Counsel to the US Treasury Dept., and Special Counsel to the SEC. Mr. Cheek serves as counsel to independent directors of mutual funds and is the Regulatory Auditor of the NY Stock Exchange, and is former chair of the Legal Advisory Board of the NY Stock Exchange.

Scholarship and other student opportunity news:
- This year’s Write-on Competition for the Arizona Law Review and Arizona Journal of International and Comparative Law will take place the weekend of Friday, March 27 - Monday, March 30. All 1L’s and transfer students who are interested in joining a publication must participate in the Competition to be eligible. We will hold an information session on Tuesday, February 17, in Room 160 at 12:15 to discuss the rules of the Competition and answer any questions you may have. Both publications will also host Open Houses in the respective offices to introduce current members and discuss their experiences as writers.
- Opportunities remain for semester-long visits (Fall 2009 or Spring 2010) to a group of excellent Canadian universities under our NACLE programs. The partner institutions are McGill (in Montreal), Dalhousie (Nova Scotia), University of British Columbia (Vancouver) and Ottawa (in Ottawa). A 2.75 GPA is required for application. Anyone interested should contact Carolyn Coolidge (coolidge@law.arizona.edu) or David Gantz (gantz@law.arizona.edu).
- Applications are being accepted for the Morris K. Udall Foundation Native American Congressional Internship program. The program is open to Native American or Alaska Native students. It is a Ten-week intensive internship in Washington D.C. It includes community-style living convenient to Capital Hill and a $1,200 stipend plus expenses. Applications are due by January 30, 2009.
