| Arizona Law Team Wins Jenckes Competition | |||||||
|
Arizona Law came out the winner in the annual show down between the two Arizona law schools over which team - UA or ASU - could make the best closing argument. On Friday, Nov. 9, Arizona Law hosted the Jenckes Competition, for the third year in a row, the UA team won. This year that team consisted of John Lierman and Robson Hauser. The team was coached by Prof. Mauet and Joe Ezzo, a two time winner of the competition. The case this year concerned a wrongful death action by the family of a 14 year old boy who was tragically killed by a drunk driver while riding his bicycle on Broadway Avenue in Tucson. The boy’s parents claimed the City was partially responsible because of flaws in the design of Broadway Avenue at the scene of the accident. The UA team represented the plaintiffs while the ASU team represented the City of Tucson. Arizona members of the American College of Trial Lawyers sponsored and judged the annual competition.
