Volunteer Lawyers Program's Spring Semester Sign-Up Meeting

The Volunteer Lawyers Program's Spring Semester Sign-Up Meeting will be held in Room 118 on Wednesday, January 15 at 12:15-1:00 p.m.

This spring, the VLP will offer volunteer opportunities at the Service Center Project, Domestic Relations Project, Bankruptcy Reaffirmation Hearing Project, and Minor Guardianship Court Project.  You can pick up the following two documents in Room 150D (Student Services) at the College of Law :  1)the spring semester schedule, which includes training and project dates, and instructions regarding how to sign up; and 2)the spring brochure with information about each project.

Please send your sign-up email to students@vlparizona.org no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 16.

Change in 1L Legal Research Schedule

At the request of the legal writing program, the Introduction to Legal Research (Law 603Q) classes will begin a week earlier than planned, the week of January 20 instead of the week of January 27. Because of the Martin Luther King Holiday on January 20, classes normally held on Monday have been re-scheduled as follows for Wednesday, January 22:

  • Section 6 (Prof. Esposito) will meet at 8:30 in Room 15;
  • Section 11 (Prof. Delgado) will meet at 8:30 in Room 137, along with Section 10.
  • Section 2 (Prof. Sandwell-Weiss) will meet at 3:00 in Room 135.

How to get your event or announcement in the Bulletin and Day At A Glance

How to get your events and announcements on the Bulletin/Master Calendar/Day At A Glance:

                Step One:  Reserve a room for your event through Forums.  Bernadette Wilkinson is in charge of the room scheduling.  If you have any questions about room scheduling or how to implement your event, please contact Bernadette at 626-1629 or bwilkins@email.arizona.edu.

                Step Two:  Post your event or announcement to the Bulletin (found on the College of Law website).  The Bulletin comes out every Friday.  Deadline for admissions are Thursday at 5:00 p.m.   Please check off that you want your event or announcement to be posted to the master calendar – this is how it gets posted to Day At A Glance.  Questions about the Bulletin can be directed to Donna Shafer at 626-9224 or dream@email.arizona.edu.

                Step Three:  Once your event or announcement has been approved for the Bulletin it automatically gets sent to the Master Calendar where it has to go through one more approval.  Once it gets approved for the Master Calendar it will be reflected in the Day At A Glance.

The 34th Marks Memorial Lecture: Justice Goodwin Liu

Justice Goodwin Liu of the California Supreme Court will speak at the 34th Marks Memorial Lecture. His topic is "Justice and the Distribution of Educational Opportunity."

Justice Liu is a prolific and influential scholar. He has published articles on constitutional law and education policy in the California Law Review, Michigan Law Review, NYU Law Review, Stanford Law Review, and Yale Law Journal, among others. His 2006 article, “Education, Equality, and National Citizenship,” won the Steven S. Goldberg Award for Distinguished Scholarship in Education Law, conferred by the Education Law Association.
