Tucson Veteran's Court and Federal Developments
Date/Time: Wednesday, April 17, 2013 12:15:PM
Location: Room 118
Wednesday, April 17, the Program in Criminal Law and Policy is pleased to welcome United States District Court Magistrate Judge Charles Pyle and the Director of the Law School’s Veteran’s Clinic, Professor Paul Bennett. They will discuss the innovative Tucson Veteran’s Court and federal developments in the area of problem solving veteran’s courts.
The City of Tucson Veteran’s Court is a cooperative effort of the Tucson City Court and The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System. Its goal is to prevent veterans charged with misdemeanor offenses from falling into a life of crime by engaging them in rehabilitation. Rather than arresting and jailing veteran offenders for a few days or weeks only to return them to the same type of life, this court connects them to VA resources.
This is the last PCLP Speaker Series event of the 2012-2013 academic year. Join us to learn about the clinic, learn about the great work done in veteran’s court, and celebrate another year of interesting and engaging lunchtime talks.
This event is open to everyone, and CLE credit will be available to Arizona attorneys.
We will meet in Room 118. Pizza will be served at 12:05pm, with the discussion beginning at 12:15pm and ending by 1:20pm.
