LEGAL RESEARCH BOOT CAMP 2014

SAVE THE DATE: Legal Research Boot Camp 2014 (May 20 - 22)

The librarians and library fellows from the Law Library once again are teaming up to teach an intensive legal research course (Legal Research Boot Camp) the week following the conclusion of the spring semester. To accommodate students participating in the Write-On Competition, Boot Camp will begin Tuesday, May 20. This year, Boot Camp will be completed in just THREE days.

Legal Research Boot Camp is open to all Arizona Law students. No academic credit will be awarded for this course; however, no tuition or other fees will be charged. Participants who attend a required number of sessions will receive a certificate. The course provides “refresher” training in using primary and secondary legal materials in addition to offering more detailed training in legislative history and administrative legal research. The course provides opportunities to use Westlaw Next, Lexis Advance, Bloomberg Law, Bloomberg BNA and other electronic resources. Exercises include both print and digital formats. A more detailed schedule will be provided later.

Students should expect to be in class, learning and completing exercises each day from about 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (with appropriate breaks and time for lunch). Coffee, tea, light snacks, as well as lunch provided.

In order to provide guided hands-on training, we need to have some idea of how many students will attend. If a greater number of students sign up for this class than can be accommodated, spaces will be allotted on a first-emailed, first-served basis.
