College of Law Professor to Address Banking Officials on Legal Challenges in Latin America

Dr. Boris Kozolchyk, president of the Tucson-based National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade (NLCIFT), Evo DeConcini Professor of Law at the University of Arizona and a recognized expert on banking law, will deliver the keynote address at a November 16 debate and forum in Miami, sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta in collaboration with the University of Miami and Florida International University. The focus of the discussions will be “Latin America Looks East – Issues, Trends, and Progress in the Global Economy.” This timely program is based upon recognition that the growing relationship between Latin America and the developing areas in Asia is driven largely by trade and investment ties. Kozolchyk will speak about NLCIFT’s work, and the challenges faced, with respect to Transparency and Disclosure, Secured Lending, and Securitization, all of which are part of the legal framework that is important for successful international trade. This forum, which is open to the public by invitation only, will be attended by approximately 75 state and federal bank supervisors, members of the academic community, and other industry participants.
