Dean Toni Massaro Named as Regents' Professor

Dean Toni M. Massaro was among four University of Arizona faculty members inducted as Regents’ Professors at a ceremony on November 30th. Regents’ Professor is an honor awarded only to faculty whose exceptional achievements have brought them national and international distinction. No more than three percent of the University’s tenured and tenure-track faculty may hold the rank at any given time. After being nominated by faculty members, an advisory board reviews nominations. The UA President decides which names are forwarded to the Arizona Board of Regents, who voted on the nominations at their April meeting.
Dean Massaro is the Milton O. Riepe Chair at the James E. Rogers College of Law. She is a prominent force in contemporary legal scholarship in constitutional law, civil justice, and the emerging field of law and emotion. Her work is cited and discussed internationally. As a legal educator,  Dean Massaro has been selected by students as “teacher of the year” six times – a record at the College of Law. As Dean, she has been involved with national and state policymaking efforts, and is considered a leader in legal education.
She joins Professor Dan B. Dobbs as one of two faculty members at the College of Law to have received this honor. Colleagues also receiving this distinction are Psychology and Neurology Professor Carol Barnes, Psychology Professor Mary Koss, and Anthropology Professor Mark A. Nichter. For further details on their accomplishments, see this press release.
