Third-Year Moot Court Teams Win Impressive Victories at ABA Competition

The ABA Moot Court Competition -- with 178 teams from 111 law school nationwide -- ended this past weekend, and the two teams from Arizona Law emerged with impressive victories. One of those teams (Erin Ford, Shane Ham, & Danita Ng) won their regional competition in San Francisco. They proceeded to the Finals in Chicago where, this past week, they won their first two rounds handily. They were then eliminated by the team who eventually won the national championship. At Nationals, Erin, Shane, & Danita won the award for second-best brief. (They had the highest score of any petitioner's brief.)

The other ABA team -- Mike Ivancie, Tommy George, & Brooke Mickelson -- also did quite well this year. They won their first three arguments at Regionals before losing in the Semi-finals. They, too, were honored for the brief writing. They won the second-best brief in the regional competition.

All these students proceeded through our upper-division legal writing program -- taking Persuasive Communication and Second-year Moot Court. Their outstanding performance in Second-year Moot Court earned them a spot on the ABA teams and on the Moot Court Board. Professor Mark Klugheit directs the Second-Year Moot Court program and also coaches our ABA teams.
