Dean Christoffel ('74), a partner at the law firm of West, Christoffel and Zickerman, PLLC, will receive the 2009 William E. Morris Pro Bono Service Award from the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education. This award is given in recognition of the extraordinary contributions by an attorney who makes legal services available to those who could otherwise not afford them. The award will be presented during the State Bar of Arizona Annual Convention at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix on June 25, 2009, during the awards luncheon.

He is a regular participant in the Volunteer Lawyers Program’s domestic relations clinics where he assists clients representing themselves complete the necessary forms in their cases, and if necessary, will help secure safety and shelter for their children. Most recently, Dean has lead the Volunteer Lawyers Program in the development and implementation of clinics for outlying rural communities. He has helped recruit other attorneys to participate in these clinics, and he helped put together a “traveling show” to go to Casa Grande for the program’s first ever domestic relations clinic in Pinal County.
Dean was previously honored with the 2008 Judicial Branch Achievement Award by the Arizona Supreme Court for Outstanding Pro-Bono Service and was designated the 2007 Volunteer Lawyer of the Year by Southern Arizona Legal Aid.
