9th Circuit Court of Appeals Panel to Hear Cases at Arizona Law

On Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., a panel from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear two cases in the Ares Auditorium, James E. Rogers College of Law. Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor (Retired), Supreme Court of the United States, will be one of the judges hearing the case, along with Chief Judge Alex Kozinski and Circuit Judge Sandra Segal Ikuta. The two cases the panel will hear are ASU Students for Life v. Crow, a case challenging the constitutionality of ASU’s insurance requirement for off-campus groups or entities, and Gonzalez v. State of Arizona, a case to determine whether Arizona can require proof of citizenship and voter identification in order to vote in person is constitutional. More information about these cases can be found here. Briefs for the cases are on reserve at the Daniel F. Cracchiolo Law Library for use in the library.

The Ares Auditorium has reached capacity and a wait list has been started. Requests for reservations may be made at Your name will automatically be added to the wait list. A live videostream of the oral arguments will be available in Room 168 at Arizona Law on a first-come, first-served basis. Again, more information can be found here.
