College News and Events

Five University of Arizona law alumni were recently honored for their professional accomplishments and significant service to the profession and their communities. Presentation of awards from the University of Arizona Alumni Association took place at the 37th Annual Appreciation Dinner of the Law College Association (LCA) on April 16, 2011, in Tucson.

Honorees included:

• Distinguished Citizen Award:  Chief Judge Irma Gonzalez, San Diego
• Professional Achievement Awards:  N. Warner Lee, Phoenix, and Robert Hirsh, Tucson
• Young Professional Achievement Award:  Kevin Boyle, Los Angeles
• Outstanding Young Alumni Volunteer Award:  Greg Sakall, Tucson

Arizona Law Dean Lawrence Ponoroff also presented a special certificate to the Tucson law firm of Mesch, Clark & Rothschild for the firm’s support and pro bono work to the College of Law’s Civil Rights Restoration Clinic. Now in its 4th year, the clinic has successfully represented many clients in securing their civil rights, and establishing productive lives and work. The clinic is co-directed on a pro bono basis by Jonathan Rothschild and Professor Andy Silverman (’69), with the help of firm attorney, Cassandra Meynard (’08), and staff.
