Chief Judge Irma Gonzalez ('73) Receives the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Law College Association

On April 16, 2011, the Law College Association presented Chief Judge Irma Gonzalez ('73), Chief United States District Judge for the Southern District of California, with the Distinguished Citizen Award. This award recognizes distinguished service and other outstanding volunteer efforts.  Judge Gonzalez was the first Mexican-American woman appointed to the federal judiciary as an Article III Judge. She served as a U.S. Magistrate Judge from 1984 to 1991 and has been a U.S.District Judge since 1992. She is a member of the James E. Rogers College of Law Board of Visitors as well as numerous other judicial committees and organizations.
