Course Description

Contemporary Topics in Intellectual Property

This seminar provides a survey of some of the key areas of contemporary intellectual property law: patents, trademarks and copyright.  The topics to be covered in this seminar may include biotechnology patents, copyright in video games, business method patents, trademark registration and infringement, and the right of publicity.  There may be some repetition in this seminar of material covered in copyright, trademarks or patents courses.  However, as assignments are based principally around problem questions, this seminar should provide students with opportunities to apply the material covered in other courses and to examine some of the issues covered in those courses in new contexts.
