Course Description

Topics in Constitutional Law

This seminar offers an opportunity to write a paper on an aspect of constitutional law that interests you.  It is a writing seminar that satisfies the College of Law’s “Substantial Paper Seminar” requirement.  The professor is extremely flexible as to choice of paper topics and the format of the paper.  Possible formats include: a law review Note, a U.S. Supreme Court Brief, or a U.S. Supreme Court Opinion.  Students interested in a particular subject matter may make it the subject of an analytical essay.  Other papers may focus on a case on the Court’s Docket.  If the case has been set for oral argument, a student might obtain the briefs and then write an opinion for the Court.  For a case on which certiorari has been sought or recently granted, a student might prepare a Brief on the Merits.
